  • When does Old Faithful typically erupt?

Average times between each eruption can vary from 60 to 110 minutes. The waiting period typically depends on the duration of the previous eruption. The visitor center's staff maintains geyser statistics and predictions. Visitors are welcome to check for posted predictions in most park buildings.
  • Can I swim in Yellowstone's rivers or lakes?

Visitors are not allowed to swim or wade in thermal features or any streams that flow into thermal features. Guests may swim in river, stream and lake water; however, due to the very real risk of hypothermia, swimming is generally discouraged.
